I have this error when I try to install the port auto-multiple-choice which requires p5.26-pathtools. 

Error: Failed to configure p5.26-pathtools: configure failure: list element in quotes followed by "/usr/bin/clang"" instead of space

sudo port clean p5.26-pathtools
sudo port -d configure p5.26-pathtools

I'm not able to reproduce this. Without a main.log showing the problem, it will be difficult to do anything about it.
