A segmentation fault is a kind of crash, so a crash log file should have been generated in (some) Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports folder. If you can attach that file, it may shed light on the problem.

I'm not able to reproduce this issue on the macOS release for the original report (10.9), or anywhere else. And since gdk-pixbuf2 has been updated multiple times since, it's possible this was an upstream bug somewhere.
