i ran into the problem described ticket:59285
it was only through finding that ticket that i found i needed '-d' to see the failure. even doing that doesn't indicate the solution, which luckily that closed ticket described (signing xcode eula, which i had in the past, but must have needed to redo after updating xcode some time in the past that i'd forgotten).
- selfupdate should indicate that it has failed, even without -d.
- unsigned xcode eula should be detected, and the 'xcodebuild -license' script launched, or at worst, instructions on how to do so.
