I noticed there were some bad permissions (in the /opt/local/share/highlight data dirs) with the 2.2-5 version of the this port. I took care of those, and also went ahead and:
o upgraded it to the latest version o added a missing conf file (and now putting them in ${prefix}/etc/highlight as samples) o added missing man page, docs and examples
I know you have better things to be doing with your Darwinports time, so I can take ownership of this from you (maintainer change is in the patch), unless you're attached to it ;)
