    11the only thing needed to make those versions work for MacPorts is a way to tell stack to use those ghc versions as upstream ghc, rather than the ones on the official ghc website.

     3Unfortunately, that is not trivial. You have to somehow override stack's "portindex" (packaging manifest), and the mechanism to do that in a way that would work for a diffuse set of MacPorts users is not clear.

     5It's simple to do on a local, case-by-case basis though, as I explained above.
