Description (last modified by mf2k (Frank Schima))

I am trying to edit the NTFS-3g after installing it. Following the instructions from the site below.

wiki:howto/Ntfs3gFinder

But even though I try the following like I did for Catalina, "sudo mount -uw /"

But I get this error...

mount_apfs: volume could not be mounted: Permission denied
mount: / failed with 66

I tried disabling SIP, but that does not work either. After disabling SIP, when I do this command,

sudo mv /sbin/mount_ntfs /sbin/mount_ntfs.orig

I get this error,

mv: rename /sbin/mount_ntfs to /sbin/mount_ntfs.orig: Read-only file system

Is this on Big Sur?

Replying to mf2k:

Yes it is on Big Sur. I had assumed that with Big Sur, I would be able to follow the same instructions as for Catalina.

Is there any update on this?

Did you already check the upstream documentation? https://github.com/osxfuse/osxfuse/wiki/NTFS-3G

Thank you for that, but according to the installation instructions on the page, it is asking me to use Homebrew, which I don't want to do. Plus there does not seem to be any instructions there dedicated to Big Sur. I've even established that disabling SIP doesn't work as well.

Sorry, I did not realize you were talking about Big Sur, because it was not mentioned in the initial description.

But if even upstream did not yet figure out how to achieve this on Big Sur, I do not think there is anything to update in our documentation either at this point.

I keep checking this post to see if there is any update for Big Sur.

I am still trying to get this done for my system. I used to have the ability to write to NTFS formatted disks on Catalina. I would like the same without having to install 3rd party apps.
