Abiword port install of Either universal or use_source variants Fails

Follow up to prior ticket about Abiword building to a PPC executable. I have now tried:

sudo port install abiword +universal

This succeeds, but the resulting Abiword.app is still PPC.

I have also tried:

sudo port install abiword +use_source

This fails with LOTS of build errors (per the log file).

Finally:

Any form of "sudo port install abiword -use_binary +variant_name"

fails, saying I must either specify +use_binary or +variant_name.

All of this on Mac Studio, M1 Max, 32 GB RAM, macOS Monterey.
