Maxima 5.45.1 build failure on x86-64

Reported by: gpreitsma Owned by: KubaO (Kuba Ober)
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.8.0
Keywords: Cc:
Port: maxima

Description (last modified by jmroot (Joshua Root))

Since last week, Maxima doesn't build anymore, and errors out on a file access exception:

:info:build Unable to open #P"/opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_macports_release_tarballs_ports_math_maxima/maxima/work/maxima-5.45.1/src/numerical/binary-abcl/numerical/f2cl-package.abcl-tmp".

This error appeared already in port version 2.7.2. This morning I received version 2.8.0, but this issue is still there.

I don't know why.

But current SBCL @2.2.9 port works on Monterey. https://ports.macports.org/port/sbcl/details/

So you can use SBCL instead of ABCL in order to build Maxima.

That works indeed! Re-installing Maxima with SBCL instead of ABCL builds without a problem!

Thank you so much for your quick reply!

George
