Description (last modified by jmroot (Joshua Root))
Hello,
I'm trying to install Geeqie and it is not working. I've installed MacPorts and that went well. However, I've run into several issues installing Geeqie from the command line. Below is the most recent issue, but earlier it went through a longer installation process, but failed at the end. Unfortunately, I did not get the details. I don't do command line things much so not sure what else to do.
Thanks, Jim

File 3 Screen recording of the application not opening
comment:3 Changed 8 months ago by Jimepea
Hi,
I'm following up on this ticket. While the application was installed "successfully" it appears to launch, but does not open and I have attached a screen recording. Please note, this is very short due to your 10MB file restriction but I've opened it and came back later and it still did not open.
I'm happy to uninstall the application but would like to know if there are other files that I may have to manually delete so that I can do a clean install of the Geeqie application. Unless you have found something similar. . I'm running Mac OS 12.7.2 Monterey.
Thanks, Jim

Hi,
I have an update. I've installed the Geeqie 2.1 upgrade that came out yesterday. It went through the upgrade process and updated everything but it sill will not launch.
I would appreciate any recommendations on how to resolve and I'm happy to do a full uninstall and reinstall of MacPorts and Geeqie.
thanks.

By default this uses x11, so you need to install xorg-server for geeqie to open and have a display.
However, even after you install xorg-server, it won't display properly. The fonts are all confused and the windows black. Somewhere in the many tickets here I think I saw a fix for this issue, but I have no idea where that fix is now.
Please attach the main.log mentioned in the error message.
