port outdated shows xar with higher version number installed than available

Description

On Monetery 12.7.6 with Xcode 14.2 

port installed xar
The following ports are currently installed:
  xar @1.8.0.501_0 (active)

but 

port -v outdated
The following installed ports are outdated:
xar                            1.8.0.501_0 > 1.8.0.498_0  !

I am assuming that xar has been pinned at 1.8.0.498_0 on Monterey but that I upgraded to 1.8.0.501_0 before the port was pinned.

Presumably having xar @1.8.0.501_0 on Monterey breaks something. But I haven't noticed anything. Should I downgrade to 1.8.0.498_0 to avoid breakage?

No! If you have a working version of xar don't downgrade it.

The current version of xar has been a mess which we haven't yet full resolved.
