I too am seeing this error attempting to build xld. It appears to work just fine, however it is a blocker to installing p5-google-protocolbuffers.

If it "appears to work just fine", then it should not be "a blocker to installing" any other port. Please show how it is a blocker.

Ok, strange. This afternoon, after clearing a lot of cruft from my ports packages, it allows installing p5-google-protocolbuffers just fine. Close this as cant reproduce
