Reported and closed upstream at: https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/issues/17049 The recommendation is to use the gpu-next video output, but for that Vulkan needs to work, and the +vulkan variants of mpv and libplacebo don't work out-of-the-box due to #73918

Reopening to suggest +vulkan be the default variant on Tahoe. The default variant is buggy in a non-obvious way (it hangs 1/10 times).

I'm considering that but I'm not 100% sure vulkan support in mpv and vo=gpu-next are ready for everyone yet.
