#8294 closed defect (worksforme)

glib1 error at (xmms or others) startup

Reported by: hoguin.loic@… Owned by: macports-tickets@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 1.2
Keywords: Cc:
Port: glib1, xmms

Description (last modified by ryandesign (Ryan Carsten Schmidt))

I installed xmms (w/ glib1, gtk1) using darwinports but got this error at startup:

GLib-ERROR **: could not allocate -1 bytes
aborting...
Abort trap

I got the same error when I compiled everything myself.

After some tests I finally found out that if I did gcc_select 3.3 and recompile, it worked ; but it didn't work using gcc 4.0.

You may want to update the Portfile to prevent this problem.

Note : I run the latest update of Mac OS X (this may have broken something).

Which glib1 version do/did you have installed? I saw something similar with 1.2.10_4 and upgrading to 1.2.10_5 (which is current) fixed it.

I had and still have 1.2.10_5. It was installed automatically while installing xmms. I did'nt have glib installed before.

The newly-updated xmms (1.2.11) from r47013 works fine here, and this ticket is quite old so closing; speak up if it is still an issue.
