Gwyddion does not activate

Description

Gywddion 2.9 seems to install but won't activate. Macports gives the following error:

Error: Target org.macports.activate returned: Image error: /opt/local/share/mime/aliases already exists and does not belong to a registered port. Unable to activate port gwyddion. Error: Status 1 encountered during processing.

Thought it might be something to do with an older installation done before I started using macports but uninstalling that didn't help. This is on a G4 iBook running 10.4.11
