Proposed SuiteSparse update would break octave

Description

There is a proposed update to SuiteSparse (#15054), which I would like to
commit (maintainer timeout).

Unfortunately, it breaks octave but only a little.
Attached is a proposed solution (as well as minor upgrade).
If approved, I could commit the change at the same time as the SuiteSparse update.
That way, octave would never be broken.
