How? Can you tell me what needs to be installed to enabled it?

according to http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/KDE/kdenetwork/kopete/protocols/CMakeLists.txt?view=markup the jabbes support is disabled either if --with-jabber was not placed in the args or libidn-devel(http://www.gnu.org/software/libidn/) is missing.

# port variants libidn
libidn has the variants:
	universal: Build for multiple architectures

I will try to install this port with and report the results here

I just was able to get jabber in kopete. It would be nice to add qca-tls to the list of dependencies in order to make gtalk protocol working

Update: this port seems to be outdated.

Replying to bgdotmail+macports@…:

Update: this port seems to be outdated.

But it works, yeah?

couldn't get jabber to compile (kdenetwork 4.2.0) so it's disabled. You should report upstream to kopete mailing list. There is no libidn-devel port.

I have already reported this to upstream and got the fix for it before. Yes, this works for MacPorts too, working with this patch the whole time ;)

Please include the attached patch in the Port. Thanks.

Resolution: fixed
Status: newclosed

Fixed in r46791. How's that for service? :-) You'll need to run kbuildsycoca4 before it shows up in the protocol list.
