The latest news item on http://speex.org/news/ shows that speex 1.2rc1 has been out since 2008-07-23.
Some downstream applications are beginning to depend upon this version's API.
The widely-used gstreamer "good"* plugins collection (gst-plugins-good) fails to build properly against speex (1.0.5) but builds fine against speex-devel (1.2rc1).
Would you consider upgrading the non-devel speex port to version 1.2rc1 since the upstream project seems to be stalled at a release candidate version?
*good in terms of licensing, code quality, documentation, etc.
