expat checksum mismatch because of bad download server

Reported by: mgrismer@… Owned by: ryandesign@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 1.9.2
Keywords: Cc:
Port: expat

Description

Port install of expat fails with checksum mismatch. A quick check shows the downloaded file is an html message that the web address is not available, so the expat download site has changed and the port needs to be updated.

  • Summary changed from expat port install fails to expat checksum mismatch because of bad download server

Where did the bad file come from -- what mirror server? Or, what does the file say (can you attach it)? There are dozen of possible servers from which the expat port might download.

Replying to ryandesign@…:

Unfortunately I don't have the files anymore, but I believe it was http://superb-west.dl.sourceforge.net/expat. It appears the incorrect response from that site has been fixed, as now it comes up with a different error message and port properly moves on to the next site until the expat source is correctly downloaded. So, it appears everything is working again and this is not an issue.

  • Status changed from new to closed
  • Resolution set to fixed

I removed the superb-east and superb-west sourceforge mirrors from our mirror_sites list once before, in r69770, because they never seemed to have any files, but these mirrors were added back in, in r70834, along with many others. I have removed the superb servers again in r76496, this time with a comment requesting they not be added back in. Thanks for reporting the issue.
