After installing gmt4, no executable is created in /opt/local/bin. gmt5 also does not have an executable.

Operating System: OS X 10.6.8
Xcode version: 3.2.6

What did it install then? You can use port contents to find out.

This is intended to allow parallel installation of gmt4 and gmt5. The binaries are in: 

/opt/local/lib/gmt4/bin
/opt/local/lib/gmt5/bin

Btw, package maintainers of all major Linux distributions follow the same scheme. This ticket can be closed.
