thunderbird-x11: update to more recent version

As thunderbird port is out of date and it's haven't maintainer, it would vien to create a new port with the thunderbird's current version although it automatically update

You or anybody else is free to submit a patch to update the thunderbird-x11 port to a more recent version, or to submit a new thunderbird port that does not use X11.

I didn't quite understand your sentence including the remark "although it automatically update", but just for clarity, any software installed by MacPorts should not include any kind of automatic updating facility; all updates of the software should be handled by MacPorts.

It's true that thunderbird include an automatic update function. but if I understand you, the thunderbird port should not include any update function since the latter is provided by macport isn't it ?

PS I don't know how to remove the automatic update function of thunderbird or how to transform a software source to port.
