cannot install py27-sympy

an attempt to install py27-sympy on 10.6.8 failed with the following error message:

mwh@MacBook ~/Downloads/MacPorts-2.2.0 % sudo port install py27-sympy
--->  Computing dependencies for py27-sympy
--->  Verifying checksums for py27-sympy
Error: org.macports.checksum for port py27-sympy returned: sympy-0.7.3.tar.gz does not exist in /opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/py-sympy
Please see the log file for port py27-sympy for details:
    /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_python_py-sympy/py27-sympy/main.log

the log file basically contains the above information and error messages

In the future, please use WikiFormatting and Cc the port maintainers (port info --maintainers py27-sympy)

if this is meant to be a solution then it still doesn't work for me:

Your system is not attempting to fetch the distfiles for some reason. Please ​clean, try again, and attach main.log if it continues to fail.
