#68650 new defect

py311-numpy @1.26.1: Build failure - NumPy requires GCC >= 8.4

Reported by: SerpentChris (Chris Calderon) Owned by:

Port: py-numpy

Description

Tried installing numpy on my G5 running Leopard twice, first with the default variants and then with +gcc7. Both attempts resulted in the same failure. Looking closer at the log I see that for some reason it is trying to build with cc, a.k.a Apple GCC 4.0.1.

I think this has been solved, since a more up-to-date is now selected on 10.5 for me.
