First of all, this bug tracker is not the place to discuss such things. Please use the macports-user mailing list instead and ask further questions there.

Your port installation seems to be correctly installed. But in order to use it, you need administrator privileges. Usually you gain these by using sudo in front of your command. For example, sudo port selfupdate.
