plplot +gcc46 broken

Running Mac 10.6.8 with Xcode 3.2.3. Also fails in exactly the same way with a mac running 10.7.5 and Xcode 4.3.3.

First attached file shows results of "sudo port install plplot +gcc46" which ends with:
