     11Yes, this is inconvenient for a production system but guarantees that only the ports that are recursive dependencies of poppler are installed. The variants supplied with poppler are passed down to the dependents and used to select which version of each dependent to activate or build if missing.  In this case, there are none so the default version of each dependency will be used over any other version/variants.
