Thanks. It is normal for .la files not to exist with MacPorts on OS X 10.9 and later. The most common reason for a complaint about a nonexistent .la file is that you upgraded from OS X 10.8 or earlier to OS X 10.9 or later without following the migration instructions. Is that the case?
