#51211 closed defect

It would be nice to have a mysqld.sock for Mysql 5.7 — at Initial Version

Reported by: scott.g.matthews@… Owned by: macports-tickets@…

Component: ports Version: 2.3.4

Port: mysql57, mysql57-server

Description

even though ticket 49634 is marked as closed, support for a proper port for mysql does not seem to be completed.

There exists mysql57 and mysql57-server ports but a socket for mysql57 does not seem to exist. Also, the how to page for installing mysql (https://trac.macports.org/wiki/howto/MySQL) stops at mysql 56.

sudo bin/mysql -u root -p
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/opt/local/var/run/mysql57/mysqld.sock' (2)

Can we have this updated please?
