    3 I did exactly what you suggested and voila! -- It worked.
    4 But macports did NOT download any prebuilt binaries.  They were compiled from source.

    7 Attached is mt macport.conf file.  Looks like "buildfromsource" is set to "always".
    8 Perhaps that is the reason. :-) What should this setting normally be set to?
