    1 Another option would be to extend `Portfile` a bit: If `configure phase´ fails (more reasons for that are possible) it patches the `configure script` so that the directory name `confdir-14B---` becomes `confdir--15B---` or such and restarts. Permutations of this name until it works might follow. Of course before `port` tries a "new trick" it can check that this directory exists.
