    7 Yes, I think that's the right approach! You might include some Notes in the Portfile, similar to how the `Go` port provides special compilation instructions for users on old systems: https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/blob/master/lang/go/Portfile#L123. Something like "To export projects which are compatible with your platform, please do A B and C."
