    11Upstream eschews any type of `configure`-related script, in favor of a makefile. However, the `makefile` portgroup might bridge the gap, in terms of the compiler setup.

     5Net-Net, even if a patch is necessary, it should be very simple. And we'll certainly contribute back to upstream as well.
