7		P.S. As for the line CC = gcc in the Makefile. I was told on my first port submission (codegroup) that it does not make a difference if one uses CC = gcc or CC ?= gcc in the Makefile as far as Macports is concerned. Apparently, Macports can override the CC variable even when the CC variable is assigned using = or :=. This is not difficult. One just needs to pass the the new value for CC with the ~~make~~ command. e.g. `make CC=gcc`.
