Looks the same as #26751 (though it's hard to be certain since you didn't attach the log). Reopen that ticket if you still have this problem after selfupdating.

main.log is now attached. Is it the same problem as #26751 ? If so, how do we install the xorg-libXtst port? According to the shell printouts, xorg-libXtst should have been installed by the "sudo port install eiffelstudio66" command:

No it seems to be a different problem. Your linker seems to crash. Do you have the latest XCode installed? I'm afraid that there is probably not much I can do about this since this is not an error in the port...

Replying to jann@…:

Xcode 3.1.4 is installed, this is the latet Xcode Version for OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard), see Apple Developer site: "Xcode 3.1.4 is an update release of the developer tools for Mac OS X. This release provides additional GCC and LLVM compiler options, general bug fixes, and must be installed on Leopard, Mac OS X 10.5.0 and higher."

trying to fix the problem we cleaned port eiffelstudio66 and installed it again, wich resulted in a different error:

That sounds like you are having hardware problems; or you are running out of disk space.

comment:10 Changed 14 years ago by engineering@…

Indeed, I also assumed a disc space problem. Hence, I cleared some disc space, actual disc space status: capacity: 74.41 GB used: 67.64 GB free: 6.77 GB

How much free disc space is needed to install Eiffelstudio66?

comment:11 Changed 14 years ago by roederja

I think 1-2 GB should be enough. But still, an I/O error indicates a problem with your machine and has probably nothing to do with the port itself. If you get another error every time you run it, that is another indicator.

comment:12 Changed 14 years ago by engineering@…

It was a disc space problem, I did run the installation again with 10 GB of free discspace:

Commands: sudo port selfupdate sudo port clean eiffelstudio66 sudo port upgrade outdated sudo port clean --all eiffelstudio66 sudo port install eiffelstudio66

Shell output for "sudo port install eiffelstudio66": ---> Computing dependencies for eiffelstudio66 ---> Fetching eiffelstudio66 ---> Attempting to fetch PorterPackage_66_83873.tar from http://download.origo.ethz.ch/eiffelstudio/2048/ ---> Attempting to fetch eiffel_launcher_20091003.tar.bz2 from http://lil.fr.distfiles.macports.org/eiffelstudio66 ---> Verifying checksum(s) for eiffelstudio66 ---> Extracting eiffelstudio66 ---> Configuring eiffelstudio66 ---> Building eiffelstudio66 ---> Staging eiffelstudio66 into destroot ---> Installing eiffelstudio66 @6.6.83873_0 ---> Activating eiffelstudio66 @6.6.83873_0

################################################################################## To complete the installation you have to add the following to your .bashrc or .profile file : export ISE_PLATFORM=macosx-ppc export ISE_EIFFEL=/Applications/MacPorts/Eiffel66 export GOBO=$ISE_EIFFEL/library/gobo/svn export PATH=$PATH:$ISE_EIFFEL/studio/spec/$ISE_PLATFORM/bin:$GOBO/../spec/$ISE_PLATFORM/bin ##################################################################################

---> Cleaning eiffelstudio66

I assume, there are more than 1-2 GB needed during the installation process.
