#12011 closed enhancement (fixed)

REVISION: pstoedit-3.40 add a -quiet option to pstoedit

Reported by: jo.irisson@… Owned by: macports-tickets@…
Priority: Low Milestone:
Component: ports Version:
Keywords: Cc:
Port: pstoedit

Description

Patch which adds a -quiet option to pstoedit and avoids the message output to stderr each time pstoedit is invoked. The option is false by default to keep old behavior. This option is nice to have when using pstoedit in scripts or inside other applications. The Inkscape port would use it if it was available (the patch comes from Fedora Core 6 maintainers who use it in conjuction with Inkscape in particular). Hope this would be usefull.

Someone should update this to pstoedit-3.44 port.

The port was updated to 3.44 in #12380 and to 3.45 in #13300. Is the patch in this ticket still necessary?

This patch is still necessary because pstoedit still displays this "information" message (to stderr!!) every time it is run:

pstoedit: version 3.45 / DLL interface 108 (build Nov 19 2007 - release build - g++ 4.0.1 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 5367)) : Copyright (C) 1993 - 2007 Wolfgang Glunz

which is particularly annoying when used in scripting environment and when trying to catch errors in the script. I don't know if the patch still appies cleanly. I would guess so given it was valid only a few minor versions ago.

PS: this really should be an upstream patch, to pstoedit, but the fedora guys apparently tried, to no avail. if an official request could come from MacPorts too, that may help. Thanks in advance.

PPS: sorry not to have replied the first time you asked.
