Description
I just downloaded gpsd 2.37 from the web site and it built just fine "out of the box". So I would suggest that the port be upgraded from 2.30 (2 years old) to 2.37. Also, according to the readme, X windows and lesstif are only required for two test clients. I did my build just fine without lisstif (openmotif) installed. So I would suggest that openmotif and XFree86 be put into variants, instead of always being required.

After I created the ticket, I decided to try to upgrade the port myself. I have attached a diff to the port file that works fine for me. Please confirm, and apply the patch if it seems fine.

I filed this upgrade 9 months ago, along with an attached port diff. I figured that I would send a followup just as a reminder to see if we can get this port upgrade committed.

Attached is an updated patch as the original one no longer works due to changes in the Portfile that have occurred since your original submission. Note that I have removed the description from the no_x11 variant as this is defined globally since MacPorts 1.7.0 and added a --without-x configure argument to make sure that X11 support is disabled for this variant. Otherwise the same. Builds ok for me on Tiger in both configurations but I haven't tested the GPS functionality. Will commit if you approve and no comments from maintainer in 72 hours.
