Reference Ticket #13344

Are you trying to install ffmpeg_php through the MacPorts' PHP' PECL? If not, you need to tell ffmpeg_php to search ffmpeg's headers and libraries in /opt/local/include and /opt/local/lib. I'm closing this ticket as invalid.

I understand this may be closed but it doesn't explain how to accomplish the task. I too would like to install ffmpeg-php but have been unable to do so. I have the newest version of macports 1.7.2 with ffmpeg installed.

However I have not been able to install ffmpeg-php. Is there a mac port? How can I install so macport uses and shares this extension with php. I use MAMP from livingE http://www.mamp.info/en/index.php and have access to php config file. I do have the ablitiy to load ext as long as I have the right path.

Would it be possible to explain how to install ffmpeg-php and MEnconder into macports? I understand I may have to build it through terminal but what would be the commands and proper path so macports would recognize it?

This would be very helpful not only to me but I'm sure other inexperienced people or new comers on the web.

Thank You, Tim

Looks like there currently are no ports available in MacPorts for ffmpeg-php and mencoder.

You have a couple of options:

  • File a ticket requesting that these ports be added to MacPorts then wait and see if someone is interested in doing this.
  • Create new Portfiles yourself and then submit them via a ticket for inclusion by a committer.

The second option is probably more likely to get results and is a good way to get involved with MacPorts and learn about how Portfiles work, etc.

See the guide http://guide.macports.org for details of creating a Portfile. You might want to start with one of the existing PHP extension Portfiles and modify it as needed.

Try

port search php

to find existing ports having to do with PHP

The ffmpeg-php home page is here http://ffmpeg-php.sourceforge.net/, current version is 0.6.0

For help with questions you may run into writing a Portfile, the macports-devel list is your best bet. See http://trac.macports.org/wiki/MailingLists

FYI, mencoder is part of the MPlayer port.
