Pidgin 2.5.5 Crashes on load

After upgrading from Pidgin 2.5.4, the application crashes during startup. The password and buddy list windows do appear briefly, but do not have any contents. Shortly after, I am notified that "The application pidgin quit unexpectedly," following Pidgin closing.

This continues to occur after an uninstall and clean installation. I am using the +no_x11 +quartz variants on Mac OS X 10.5.6.

Reverting the Portfile to Pidgin 2.5.4 results in an installation that crashes at the same point while loading. Might this point to a GTK issue?

The "Report..." option in the crash dialog shows the following:
