PSEUDO BUG - new port dir mirror macports.rsync.ionic.de

Description

Hi all,

I have set up macports.rsync.ionic.de as a new rsync mirror for the ports directory.

Are you interested in adding it as an official mirror? I am syncing every 3h from rsync.macports.org.

Connections can be made via IPv4 or IPv6 selectively.

The server is physically located in France, Europe, but it features a German RIPE failover IP (so, most probably the location should better be described as Germany.)

Feel free to discuss this here and drop notes and clouts. :p

Best regards,

Mihai

Rsync mirrors have to be set in the conf files manually, so there's nothing to do here except edit Mirrors, which you can do yourself.

Hi again,

it seems like everything is set up correctly and working like a charm.

The distfiles mirror can be found here: http://macports.distfiles.ionic.de

Last thing to do is to add an A and AAAA record do your zone file, if applicable. Just create a CNAME record for de.rsync.macports.org to macports.rsync.ionic.de and another one for de.distfiles.macports.org to macports.distfiles.ionic.de.

As soon as this is done, I'll add the data to the Mirrors wiki page. Let's do this first, because there is no way to control the distfiles place to look for (but I guess somebody has to hardcore that into port.)

I hope I could help out and European users can enjoy a new service.

Best regards,

Mihai

The naming scheme normally uses the nearest airport code; what would that be for your server?

Hi Jmr,

alright, make it lil.fr (Lille, France) then (seems to be the nearest airport code for Roubaix, France.)

Best regards,

Mihai
