wxWidgets-devel fails to compile with clang

The latest macports on OSX 10.6 produces following log when I try to install the port:

Why is clang being used?

Are you really on OS X 10.6 or did you mean 10.7?

I use 10.6 (snow leopard).

I think it is related somehow to xcode configuration. Right now I use the latest development xcode

$ xcodebuild -version
Xcode 4.2
Build version 4C177

Also I think that all project should compile fine with clang (as clang probably be the default compiler in the future xcode versions).

That doesn't imply all projects should build now using clang.

You have issues with clang, please try:

sudo port clean wxwidgets-devel
sudo port -d install configure.compiler=llvm-gcc-4.2

Oh. I was not aware that it was possible to install Xcode > 4.0 on Snow Leopard, since the Mac App Store lists Xcode 4.2 as requiring Lion.

That would be nice, but it's simply not true at this point in time. We've already encountered many ports that do not build with clang. As we discover them, we're either fixing them so they build with clang, or making them use a different compiler.
