there is already a port devel/cdialog; but as the maintainer doesn't seem to give much love to it, you may well take over maintainership for it! Just supply a unidiff (diff -u) of the Portfile for the latest version and changed maintainer address;

Oh, I wondered that this didn't seem to exist (should have looked for it more carefully, sorry). But, to make things clear, is your idea that I change the maintainer and version in cdialog Portfile (this would include the master_site and homepage, too, would it) or something else? There seems to be a small problem, as there does not seem to be a proper homepage for the project. The hightek.org seems to me a bit better and the note on that site says that cdialog is not developed anymore, so what would be the best way to proceed: 1) to keep cdialog and add dialog (redundancy) 2) to modify information in cdialog to point to dialog (it wouldn't be cdialog anymore) 3) to replace cdialog with dialog (breaks dependencies)? The good thing in cdialog Portfile is the installation of examples, I didn't do that.

afaik the cdialog is the open source implementation of dialog, so the name imho should be cdialog; if I'm wrong, please correct me...

if I'm right, I'd say you change the maintainer address and let the homepage etc. point to where you think fits best - I didn't check for it in a long time. Perhaps it is a good idea to cross-check what the FreeBSD and debian ports/packages are named like.

It seems to be so that dialog should be the name (if you look at www.invisible-island.net that BTW seems to be the homepage of the developer, there the name used is dialog and not cdialog and the package contains GPL COPYING file). I modified my Portfile to point to this site and added the copying of examples from the previous. I attach my original and diff (-ubw). Debian uses dialog, FreeBSD uses cdialog (but refers to Dickey's home page that uses dialog). Considering that the developer himself uses dialog, could that be the way to go?
