libxslt: fetch failed

Reported by: jaycourson@… Owned by: macports-tickets@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.1.2
Keywords: Cc: ryandesign (Ryan Carsten Schmidt)
Port: libxslt

Description (last modified by ryandesign (Ryan Carsten Schmidt))

I'm running OS 10.8.2 and I am trying to install Wine and am in over my head. I followed the directions from this website: http://www.davidbaumgold.com/tutorials/wine-mac/#part-0

Everything seemed to go fine until I ran this command: $ sudo port install wine

It got a long way through the install, but then I got the following error messages:

Error: org.macports.fetch for port libxslt returned: fetch failed
Error: Failed to install libxslt
Please see the log file for port libxslt for details:

To report a bug, follow the instructions in the guide:

Error: Processing of port wine failed

I do not know what the problem is, and I know even less how to fix it.

I am not very technical and really am out of my depth. I don't really understand what I'm doing, I'm just following exactly the directions I found. I have looked through the forums to make sure I'm not duplicating a question already asked, but I just don't have the grasp of this. If I have violated any rules of the forum it was completely unintentional and I sincerely apologize. Thank you for advance for any help I receive.

Summary: Having Problems Installing Winelibxslt: fetch failed

Remember to use WikiFormatting when writing in Trac, and preview before submitting to make sure things look right.

According to the error message you showed us, libxslt (a library used by wine) could not be fetched. The main.log file, whose location was included in the error message, might tell us more about why it failed. Could you attach the main.log to this ticket please?

I'm not aware of any general problems fetching libxslt, so I see two possibilities:

  1. There was a temporary network or server problem which has resolved itself. In this case, just try what you were doing again.
  2. There is some other network or server problem, possibly unique to your network or computer. In this case, please attach the file /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_textproc_libxslt/libxslt/main.log to this ticket so that we can examine its contents for clues. Without seeing this file, we can only make guesses.

Ryandesign,

Thank you very much for addressing my problem. I had thought about just running through it again but was concerned that would cause duplication problems. I'm about to go to bed; I'll let the computer run it while I sleep and report back to you tomorrow morning.

PS, I didn't realize my formatting was not right, and apologize if that caused problems. I'll use WikiFormatting in future posts. Thanks again.
