Per a user suggestion in #macports on IRC, the sudo port could be updated to fix the below-linked bug:
http://www.sudo.ws/sudo/alerts/epoch_ticket.html
I am unfamiliar with MacPorts' sudo port and defer to you to determine if this upgrade should be committed.
