#38944 closed enhancement (wontfix)

add Institute of Physics styles/classes to texlive-publishers?

Reported by: beany_kelly@… Owned by: drkp (Dan Ports)
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version:
Keywords: Cc:
Port: texlive-publishers

Description

Can the LaTeX classes/styles of the Institute of Physics be added to the texlive-publishers package? They can be found here: ftp://ftp.iop.org/pub/journals/latex2e/

It seems silly to have the IoP's bibliography style file (iopart-num) in the texlive-bibtex-extra package, when the associated iopart.cls, etc. are nowhere to be found in MacPorts.

This isn't really a change we should make in MacPorts. Our modifications to TeX Live are limited to packaging and Mac-specific issues (plus the occasional fix for serious bugs).

The best place to bring it up is probably the TeX Live mailing list, tex-live@…. I don't know if there's a reason this package isn't already included -- perhaps a license issue?

Thanks for the response. I've now looked at the TeX Live mailing list, and found a similar request there from January of this year. It was rejected because of licencing uncertainties, as you suggest, so I'll try to hassle the originators at IoP.

[Apologies for not CC-ing maintainer to begin with; I didn't realise the information was available on the port page, nor that the maintainer *wasn't* auto-included when the port name was selected in the TRAC field]

That may have been my message on the TeX mailing list. I wrote to IOP to ask if they would release iopart under a free license so that it could be included in TeX Live. IOP was receptive to the idea, although they were in the midst of preparing a new release. I will ping them again.
