The attempt is not a clean one. Please run sudo port clean dbus-glib and try again.

That being said, your log file references an .la file:

:info:build grep: /opt/local/lib/libgio-2.0.la: No such file or directory
:info:build /opt/local/bin/gsed: can't read /opt/local/lib/libgio-2.0.la: No such file or directory
:info:build libtool: link: `/opt/local/lib/libgio-2.0.la' is not a valid libtool archive

Did you recently upgrade to a newer version of OS X and didn't follow wiki:Migration?

Well, I did upgrade the OS a few months back. Perhaps now that it catching up to me? I followed the Migration instructions on the wiki, just now, and no longer have the problem. The instructions are basically just a total uninstall/clean/re-install so it I suppose it *could* have been something else, but I'll never know. :)

Thanks!

Glad you got it working.

It's actually pretty likely that these .la files caused the issue – they are no longer there after Migration, because MacPorts on 10.9 doesn't install them anymore. They cause more trouble for us than they solve.

However, partially deleting them can cause the problems you saw – so that's likely what happened here.
