RethinkDB recently released v2.3.6:

It would be nice to have an update.

The current version in macports is 1.11.1 - I'm not sure the best way to upgrade to 2.x.y
## Compatibility ## Data files from RethinkDB versions 1.13.0 onward will be automatically migrated to version 2.0. As with any major release, back up your data files before performing the upgrade.

I think we just update the port to the latest version and let the user find the database migration instructions on their own. Since database migration will be automatic in the future, this will be a one-time inconvenience for existing users and will not affect new users.
