i execute

sudo rm -rf /opt/local /Applications/DarwinPorts /Applications/MacPorts /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.macports.* /Library/Receipts/DarwinPorts*.pkg /Library/Receipts/MacPorts*.pkg /Library/StartupItems/DarwinPortsStartup /Library/Tcl/darwinports1.0 /Library/Tcl/macports1.0 ~/.macports

and try to reinstall but it shows a window stating: The installation failed The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

Ok, then that's not #49050 after all.

What does the log say? (In the Installer program, choose Installer Log from the Window menu. If it doesn't show anything interesting, change Show Errors Only to Show All Logs.)

It's important to use WikiFormatting when writing in Trac so that your posts are legible.

It says:

An error occurred while extracting files from the package “MacPorts-2.3.4-10.11-ElCapitan.pkg”

and:

archive verify failed

That's strange. Maybe the download was corrupted? Can you download from our web site again?

comment:10 Changed 9 years ago by giddeonzeix@…

i am truly sorry i am not familiar with that. is there a tool to convert copy and paste text to that format ?

comment:11 Changed 9 years ago by ryandesign (Ryan Carsten Schmidt)

See WikiFormatting#PreformattedText. Just precede your output with the three characters {{{ on a line by itself, and put the three characters }}} on a line by itself after your output.

I had already corrected the formatting of your previous comment...

Can you try downloading MacPorts again? You might have gotten a corrupted or truncated download somehow.

comment:14 Changed 9 years ago by giddeonzeix@…

after 40 min the newlydownloaded macports finally finished . i am now reinstalling all ports thanks again for your kind advice.

Ok great. I guess it was a corrupted or truncated download after all.
