Description 

$ port installed texlive-common
The following ports are currently installed:
  texlive-common @2017_0 (active)
$ grep 2016 /opt/local/etc/texmf/texmf.cnf
TEXMFVAR = ~/.texlive2016/texmf-var
TEXMFCONFIG = ~/.texlive2016/texmf-config

These come from texlive-common-2017/texmf.cnf.d/10paths.cnf provided by /opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/texlive-common/texlive-common-2017.tar.xz
