Description

A more recent port of the git scm tool used by the linux kernel folk. There is already a port called "git", which is an older version (0.7).

so what about the old port? Is this a new version or...?

I'd throw the old port out. I can't think much use for git other than the linux kernel and there the old git package is probably useless. This has better name, too :) It doesn't clash with other stuff (at least two that I know) called git. Unless there's some major trouble with this port, of course... I tested this on Tiger and checked out the latest linux source with it: seemed to work. At the moment I can't test on other setups. Anyway, for linux developers git is nice to have on OS X and managed port was the way to go for me.
