#56798 closed defect (fixed)

pdflib @7.0.5 checksum mismatch

Reported by: rhtichau Owned by: jmroot (Joshua Root)
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.5.3
Keywords: Cc:
Port: pdflib

Description (last modified by jmroot (Joshua Root))

Dear MacPorts developers,

I've recently upgraded from Mac OS Sierra to High Sierra and according to the guidelines, I've followed the migration procedure. As I was not able to save the previously installed ports, I'm installing them manually. I've managed to install many of them but I'm encountering the following error message when trying to install grace:

sudo port install grace +universal

I've tried all ready to do "sudo port clean grace" and "sudo port clean pdflib" and tried again "sudo port install grace" as well as "sudo port install grace +universal" but I keep getting the same error message..

I've also checked in the /opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/pdflib/ folder and there is PDFlib-Lite-7.0.5.tar.gz.html only.

Any clue on how to solve this issue?

Many thanks in advance,

Ruth

Sorry, the HTML file is now in attachments. I've tried to go to the master_site (http://www.pdflib.com/binaries/PDFlib/[string map {"." ""} [strsed ${version} s/\[0-9.\].*$]]/) in order to download directly the necessary binaries but they are not available either:

"The unexpected happened: the page you requested does not seem to be available any more or has moved to a different place. Please use the navigation or search function to find the information you were looking for."

I'm not an expert so I might be misunderstanding things, but how/where can I get these files? In the main pdflib page there are many packages that one can download and I don't know which of them will enable the subsequent grace installation..

You just need to selfupdate to get the updated portfile, and then try again.

comment:8 Changed 6 years ago by rhtichau

Thank you for the answer! Sorry for disturbing you again but now, when I run "sudo port selfupdate" I get this error message:

sudo port selfupdate
Password:
Version number in metadata table is newer than expected.
    while executing
"registry::open $db_path"
    (procedure "mportinit" line 642)
    invoked from within
"mportinit ui_options global_options global_variations"
Error: /opt/local/bin/port: Failed to initialize MacPorts, Version number in metadata table is newer than expected.

I've looked up in the archives and if it could explain what is going wrong, my path is:

echo $PATH
/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/opt/local/bin:/opt/X11/bin:/usr/local/munki:/Library/TeX/texbin

I don't understand why it is failing now.. Yesterday I could run "port version", "port search", "sudo port install" with no problems yet it is not working anymore.. I've closed it all and restarted my mac but I still get the same error message..

your PATH is pretty messed up...

also, MacPorts usually won't work correctly if you have anything installed in /usr/local

comment:10 Changed 6 years ago by jmroot (Joshua Root)

Well this is completely separate to the problem with pdflib now. You seem to have a registry database that was created by a newer version of MacPorts than you are currently running. You could try installing the current MacPorts .pkg to ensure you are updated to the latest version?

This ticket is not the appropriate place to discuss this new problem, so please write to the macports-users mailing list if you need further assistance, or ask on our IRC channel. If there is a bug in MacPorts base causing this, it should be reported in a new ticket.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
