No update to 4.0 until I can get a statement on GTK3. So far there's no such branch. Might have been completely dropped for good, but need upstream to confirm or deny that.

I did, yes, see https://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/boards/1/topics/2489.
Essentially, the GTK interfaces are all deprecated. The GTK3 branch might get updated from time to time, but it'll vanish soon anyway and is not guaranteed to work.
I haven't had time to work on MP, though...
Okay. The default doesn't terribly matter because we already have Qt5 support available in the port. Something to keep in mind, I guess.
